CJ – This is what happens when one group (in this case a certain stripe of Christianity) claims a monopoly on morality. That’s why, as you pointed out, it’s seen in radical religious sects like fundamentalist Islam.

Because I’m a philosophy geek, I just had to make a syllogism out of it:

1.) All morality comes from deity X.
2.) Therefore anyone who doesn’t derive morality from X doesn’t HAVE morality.
3.) Those without morality are criminals.
4.) Criminals should be punished.
5.) Who don’t believe in X can’t derive their morality from X.
6.) By 1,2, and 5, non-believers have no morality.
7.) By 6 and 3, non-believers are criminals.
8.) By 7 and 4, non-believers should be punished.
5.) Therefore, by People who don’t believe in X should be punished.

A woman who seeths with irrational, emotional hatred and clearly feels righteous about it has no business in public office.
